    Initial Setup

    1. Download the latest version of the Adobe printer driver in a zip file here (version 1.06 of the installer). Alternatively, it is available on \\plutonium\public (be sure to use your Windows compsci domain userid and password to connect to plutonium). It will work for Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP. It also contains the printer definition files and registry entries for enabling plain text passwords. Unzip it to a directory on your local hard disk.
    2. Map a drive to sambahost. \\sambahost\public or \\sambahost\[your Unix userid] are good targets. If the connection works, then go to step 3. If the connection is refused, then you may need to enable plain text passwords.

To enable plain text passwords, run the appropriate .reg file for your Windows version by double clicking on it, and then click on Yes in the window that opens. You should get a success message. You will have to reboot before trying to map a drive again.

    3. In the directory you unzipped the file in, go into the "driver" directory and run setup.exe.
    4. Click next, then read and agree to the EULA.
    5. Select network printer and click next.
    6. Type in the printer you wish to connect using the form \\sambahost\printername. For instance, if you want to set up diamond, then enter \\sambahost\diamond. Click next.
    7. You should get an error window with the message: "The network printer is not using the Adobe driver. If you know the type of selected printer, then...". This is normal. Click yes. If you received any other error message, then you probably don't have a drive mapped to sambahost.
    8. Select the name of the printer you are trying to configure from the list presented. Click next.
    9. In the next window, you may or may not be able to set the printer name, set it as the default, and whether or not to print a test page. Some options may be greyed out depending on the system you are running. Set appropriately, and click next.
    10. Click install.
    11. When it asks if you wish to configure your printer now, select yes and click next.
    12. The properties box for the printer comes up. Set the following for each printer:

    13. Click ok.
    14. Click finish.
